Diabolus Review: Phantom Queen
An epithet of the Morrigan, crow-winged Celtic goddess of war, strife and fertility. Adoration of this Goddess is expressed both through the ecstasy of battle lust and the ecstasy of sexual regeneration. Black orchid, apple blossom, meadowsweet, and rue over Irish moss, hawthorn and red clover.
Acquired: imp from magikalcrab @ lj
In the Bottle: Sweet fruity smell. Apple with a hint of orchid.
Wet: Sweet fruit with a hint of floral. The sweetness of the apple and hawthorn fade pretty quickly.
Drying: The orchid starts to come out more against the sweetness of the fruits. I can't really smell the clove.
Dry: Sweetness has gone away. It's now a light orchid floral with an underlying sweetness that isn't overpowering. There's a tiny hint of spicy clove.
Fade: Half an hour on, the scent's faded into a powdery floral. And hour and a half later, the scent is pretty much gone; a tiny trace still clings close to the skin.
Verdict: I like this blend as it's not too floral and not too sweet. Still, it is a touch sweeter than I like so I'll probably just finish the imp and not go for a bottle.
