A Little Lunacy Review: Blood Moon (October 2005)

Blood Moon was only available for purchase 18 September 2005. In October, the crop harvest has past, and all hands turn to the Hunt: the third and final harvest before winter. Blood Moon shines over huntsmen as they ride over reaped grain in pursuit of their prey. The feral scent of the heat of the chase, deep woods, undulating musks, brushed by forest herbs, crushed grains, and touched by blood-dimmed lunar oils.

Acquired: bottle from The Lab

In the Bottle: Spicy, woody scent. A little bit sweet.

Wet: Under the spicy, woody (possibly Dragon's Blood) secnt, there's a sweetness that could be... vanilla maybe?

Drying: Something vanilla-like but not as sweet since I usually hate vanilla. Vaguely like almond, but not exactly that either. Reviewers at the forum mentioned grains, and I can definitely understand that. There's a sort of oatmeal/vanilla scent going on here.

Dry: It gets a little bit sweeter. Earlier when I tested it, I thought it turned a bit powdery, but I'm not really getting that now. I've read mentions of cinnamon, but I don't pick up on that at all -- which is good since I don't really like cinnamon.

Fade: An hour later, the scent is still about as strong as when it had dried. Two hours later, it's faded a lot, but it's still there close to the skin.

Verdict: This was the first bottle I bought from the Lab without first trying it and I was afraid I wasn't going to like it. No need to worry though, since I love it. Definitely keeping the bottle.
